AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE
REORGANISATION OF FORCES BRITISH OFFICER SELECTED FOR TASK SYDNEY, May 18. (Received May 18, at 10.5 p.m.) The Canberra correspondent of the Sydney Sun reports that Majorgeneral Ernest Ker Squires, Director of Staff Duties at the War Office, London, since 1936, has been selected by the Commonwealth Government for appointment as Inspector-general of the Australian military forces. The Federal Government is now awaiting advice whether the British Government can spare Major-gen-eral Squires for two years for reorganisation of the Australian forces.
