Answering a question in the House of Commons regarding the American proposal for international action to deal with the problem of refugees driven from their homes for racial, religious, or political reasons, the Under-secretary for Foreign Affairs (Mr R. A. Butler) stated that more than 30 countries had now agreed to co-operate in the establishment of an intergovernmental committee as proposed by the United States, which suggested that the first meeting should be held at Evian (France) on July 6.
