CONFUSING FORMS
DETAILS OF FARMING , OPERATIONS GOVERNMENT REQUESTS INFORMATION iPmi UwiTEB PUSS ASSOCIATXOH) AUCKLAND, May 18. "It It absurd and ridiculous to send ties* things out," *»ld the president <Mr H. O. Mellsop),, In displaying to S (legates to the Auckland Farmers' nion Conference to-day a sheaf-of pacers asking for detailed Information concerning farming operations. "The Government has sent these pacers out >to a number of, dairy farmers to get, information that will be used, presumably in determining the guaranteed price for next season,", said Mr Mellsop. "These forms are, , however, so complicated and require such a vast amount of information that I am doubtful whether the ordinary , farmer will have the ability—if he has the inclination —to fill them in. Perhaps the more prosperous farmers will employ accountants. In any case, they will have little value in providing a cross-section of the degree of prosperity or otherwise of the average farmer."
A delegate: These forms are bqing ■ent out only to brainy farmers. The president: Did you get one? The delegate: Oh, yes!—(Laughter.) The conference appointed a committee to investigate the matter.
