OTAGO ASSOCIATION A meeting of the executive of the Otago Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr T. H. Mulholland occupying, the chair. USE OF CARISBROOK The Otago Rugby Football Union advised that Carisbrook would be available for hockey on July 7,-and that it had been agrqgd that the Indians v. New Zealand Universities hockey match should be played at Carisbrook on July 9 as a curtain-raiser to the Rugby match to be played there on that date. It was decided to instruct the Finance Committee to negotiate with the Rugby Union in regard to the financial arrangements between the two bodies. SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT A letter received from Mr H. S. J. Goodman, Otago’s representative on the New Zealand Association, brought up the question of holding a secondary schools’ hockey tournament in Dunedin this season. The chairman said the tournament held in Auckland had proved very successful, and though Otago had a good deal of arrangements to handle, a tournament would very probably be of value to the game here It was decided to hold the matter over in the meantime. MATCH WITH CANTERBURY The Canterbury Association wrote inviting Otago to send a representative team to play Canterbury in Christchurch on June 6 The secretary said he had received a telephone call from Christchurch and had been told that Wellington would be playing there at the same weekend. Such an arrangement would give the selectors of the New Zealand team an excellent opportunity of seeing the players in action. The chairman referred to certain difficulties concerning arrangements already made. At the same time it would be to the advantage of any Otago players who might be nominated for the New Zealand team. It was decided to accept the Invitation, subject to suitable transport for the team to and from Christchurch being arranged.
