CONCILIATION COUNCIL

HAIRDRESSERS’ ASSISTANTS’ DISPUTE An application for a new award by the Otago and Southland Hairdressers’ and Tobacconists Assistants’ Union was heard at Dunedin yesterday. The commissioner (Mr S. Ritchie) presided. The assessors for the workers were Messrs A. Whitburn, J. M. Connors, J. Robinson, W. W. Batchelor, and the employers were represented by Messrs J. G. Forster, V. S. Jacobs, George Moody and F. C. Scrivener. The question of .vages, hours of work, and holidays were referred to the court, but the other matters were settled in council.
