AIRLINER DELAYED

RETURN TO AERODROME TROUBLE WITH MOTOR (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, May 16. Trouble with one of its four motors caused the Union Airways liner Karoro to return to Wigram aerodrome shortly aflcr it had left for the north this morning. The motor was not functioning correctly, and the pilot turned back to enable adjustments to be made, but it was found that fairly extensive damage had been suffered, and the machine did not leave again. One of the company’s mechanics at Palmerston North was sent for, and he flew to Blenheim in an Aero Club Moth and boarded the southbound liner, which was held back there until he arrived. When it arrived at Christchurch it picked up nine passengers who were to travel by the Karoro, and returned north. The trip to Dunedin will not be made to-day. The delayed airliner will leave Christchurch at 6 o’clock this morning, and will arrive at the Taieri aerodrome in time to leave as scheduled to-day.
