WILL MARCH TOGETHER
ITALY AND GERMANY IL DUCE’S DECLARATION GENOA, May 14. (Received May 15, at 7 p.m.) In his first speech since Herr Hitler’s visit Signor Mussolini disclosed that at the time of the Anschluss he rejected a proposal for a joint act, which was the reason why anti-Fascist Powers abandoned themselves to an explosion of impotent f ury. They had evidently wished for a clash between the two totalitarian States. “ Stresa will never return,” he added. “We could not have achieved what we have done without the loyal friendship of Germany, collaboration with whom will leave its impression for a century. In the event of ideological war it should be known that the authoritarian S'tates form a bloc and will march together. We intend to respect the Anglo-Italian agreement scrupulously, Mr Chamberlain’s last speech was a recognition of the power of Italy.”
