DEATH AFTER ACCIDENT
COLLISION IN HIGHGATE THE CORONER'S FINDING An adjourned inquest was held yesterday before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., sitting as coroner, into the circumstances of the death on March 27 of Ernest Leslie Davidson Little, aged 36, an employee of the Hillside Workshops. Mr G. V. Murdoch appeared for Mrs Little, and Mr J. P- Ward watched the proceedings on behalf of Robert Oliver Lewis McLean, the driver of the car in which the deceased was a passenger when it collided with a telegraph pole in Highgate on March 25. The investigation was conducted for the police by Sergeant Lean. Evidence was given by McLean, who worked with the deceased, that he was driving the deceased home from work. There was r camber on the portion of the road on which the accident took place. Witness said he was keeping well to the left and that the camber tipped the car further to the left. A hub cap grazed a telegraph pole and portion of a spring was broken. The car mounted the footpath, and when it was brought back on to the road witness found that the deceased was unconscious. He 'then drove him to the hospital. Further evidence was given by James A Crichton, Detective George Taylor, Constable Watts, and Dr J. L. Wright. The verdict was that death was due to haemorrhage following head injuries caused by a collision between a motor car in which the deceased was a passenger and a telegraph pole in Highgate.
