GENERAL ELECTION
LABOUR CANDIDATES The following candidates for seats at the general election were endorsed at the last meeting of the national executive of the New Zealand Labour Party:— % Mrs Catherine Stewart, to contest Wellington West (a new electorate). Mr Ben Roberts, the sitting member, to contest Wairarapa. Mrs Stewart was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and from her'earliest years has been actively associated with the Labour movement. She took part in the fight for women's suffrage and in the Women's Guild of the British co-operative movement. Since her arrival in New Zealand in 1921 she has been active in the New Zealand Labour Party,
the Women's Study Circle, the Wellington Children's After-care Association, and is a foundation member of the Elizabeth McCombs Club. Ballots for the selection of the party's candidates are at present being arranged in the Motdeka, New Plymouth. Central Otago. Wallace, Kaipara, and Wellington Suburbs electorates and further announcements will be made in a short time.
