PAYMENTS TO POST OFFICE GOVERNMENT’S DISCUSSIONS LONDON, Feb. 24. The Daily Mail says: Mystery surrounds the Government’s Cable and Wireless discussions. Some say the deal is off, while others declare that it is merely held up. The discussions centred around a reduction of the company’s payment.of £250,000 a year to the Post Office, the beam system, and the question of a capital sum contribution of a comparatively small annuity in respect of the maintenance of the submarine cables, in view of their strategic importance. Meanwhile Cables anf Wireless stock is higher in expecta--tion of a 4 per cent, dividend.
