ENGINEERS’ CONFERENCE
VISITS OF INSPECTION The annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Engineers was concluded yesterday when various visits were made to engineering works of interest within reach of Dunedin, Most of the visiting delegates and their wives will return home to-day One party travelled to Mataura to inspect the New Zealand Paper Mills’ works and the Southland Freezing Company’s works. Members also found much of interest in the road improvements being effected between Milton and Balclutha. Two bus loads of engineers and their wives visited the Waipori power station, and were the guests of the Electric Power and Lighting Department’s staff at lunch. Another party inspected the Green Island sewerage scheme, the New Zealand Refrigerating Company s works, and the road improvements between Green Island and Brighton. Other parties visited the Duredin Engineering Company’s workshops, the Ward street sub-station, the Milburn Lime and Cement Company’s works, and Highways Constructors, Ltd., at Logan Point.
