WARNING TO BATHERS
ro THE EDITOR Sir, —In reference to your local in Wednesday's issue under the above heading, I wish to point out that visitors to Lake Waihola do not make themselves familiar with the bathing spots. I would also emphasise the fact that out of over 3000 picnickers this season, only two accidents have occurred, and these through the folly of not inquiring. I would hardly call the two cases treated by the Milton doctor severe: One required three stitches, and the other two; and one was caused through the boy’s own folly in diving where there was not sufficient water. This season, there have been dozens of bathers daily, and not one accident has occurred, simply because bathers have made themselves familiar with the best spot, namely, that section extending from the ladies’ dressing shed to the jetty. We people of Waihola are only too pleased to advise visitors, hence the local in your columns is somewhat misleading. In fairness to Waihola residents, I trust you will give my letter the publicity it deserves. —I am. etc., F. J. McCarthy. Waihola.
