Probyn—-Brosnahan On Wednesday morning the wedding was solemnised at St. Joseph’s Church, Temuka, of Elizabeth Mary, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Brosnahan, ‘‘Pinegrove,” Seadown, South Canterbury, and Thomas Francis, only son of Mr and Mrs T. Probyn, of Waimataitai. The Rev. Father Stewart, S.M., officiated at the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of ivory brocaded georgette, the back panel deepening into a train. A large bow finished the waistline at the back. Her, embroidered veil of tulle was worn with a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of gladioli and roses. Miss Dorothy Brosnahan attended her sister as bridesmaid, and was dressed in a frock of salmon pink silk deque, with a redingole. A plait of the material and blue forget-me-nots was worn in her hair, and she carried a bouquet of salmon pink roses and gladioli. Mr Richard Conolly was best man, A reception was held afterwards at the residence of the bride’s parents, “Pinegrove,” Mrs Brosnahan receiving the guests wearing a frock of winer coloured georgette with hat and shoulder spray to match. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a frock of black lace and a black hat, and she carried a bouquet of red roses. The travelling ensemble of the bride was of navy cloth, the redingote having wide revers and close-fitting sleeves. A smart little hat matched her frock. Mr and Mrs T. F. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Bernedette’s Church, Forbury road, on December 29, the contracting parties being Alice lona, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. N. Ward, of Caversharn, and William Ernest, second son of Mr and Mrs W. P. Thorn, of Mataura. The Rev. Father Collins officiated and celebrated nuptial mass. The bride entered the church with her father, and made a pretty picture in a model gown of deep cream satin cut on fitting lines. _ She wore an embroidered cream veil with a coronet of orange blossoms and carried a sheaf bouquet of Christmas lilies. Her only ornament was a necklace of Celeste pearls, a gift from her aunt in Sydney. The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Virginia Corkin, of Lower Hutt, and Miss Eileen Kenelly, pf Dunedin. They wore floral silk georgette frocks, taffeta halo hats, and mittens, and carried sheaf bouquets to tone. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Cecil Ward as best man. and Mr T. McHugh as groomsman. # After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the Somerset Lounge, where* they were received by Mrs Ward, assisted by Mrs Thorn. Later in the day the bride and bridegroom left by car for. the north, the bride wearing a brown silk costume, a smart mustard waistcoat blouse, and mustard Breton hat. and shoes and gloves to tone.

Mr and Mrs Thorn’s future home is to be in Waimate.
