WOMAN FOUND GUILTY
CAUSES DEATH OF PEDESTRIAN DRIVER’S LICENCE SUSPENDED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 16. A verdict of guilty, with a strong recommendation to mercy was returned by a jury in the Supreme Court at Wellington to-day in the case in which Violet Helen Maud Taylor, single, aged 22, was charged with negligent driving and thereby causing death. The Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), in passing sentence, said he had no hesitation in saying that he thought the verdict was undoubtedly right. The prisoner’s licence would be suspended, and the defendant would be disqualified from taking out another for a period of seven years. "I do not think it necessary to impose a fine or to make any further order,” said his Honor. The prosecution arose from an accident on Broadway, Miramar, on November 12, when Miss Kathleen Densely Thornhill, who was crossing the street, was knocked down by a motor car driven by the prisoner. Miss Thornhill died in hospital three days later. .
