K. S., Palmerston North.—The term millibar is used in meteorology. The standard unit of pressure is the dyne per square centimetre. One bar equals 1,000,000 of these units, and a millibar ia one-thousandth of a bar. Normal atmospheric pressure is approximately 1000 millibar*.
