AIR FORCE CRASH
NEW ZEALANDER KILLED
FORMER OTAGO BOY Official advice has been received by Mr T. G. Bunting, of “Owera,” Coromandel; of the death of his son, Pilot-officer Thomas Arthur Bunting, of the Royal Air Force, who was killed at Hornington cn December 17 when landing a twin-engined bombing machine at night after returning from long-distance bombing exercises At the time of the accident, lie was attached to No. 102 B Squadron of the Royal Air Force, at Hornington, Suffolk, England. Pilot-officer Bunting was born at Ngapara on May 28, 1914, and was educated first at Wendonside, Southr land, and then, at the Waitaki Boys’ High School. He commenced flying' at Wigram Aerodrome, where lie obtained his A Licence. In February, 1936, he was appointed to the Royal Air Force and was attached to various flying units in England and Scotland. He had just completed three months’ study of navigation in the South of England when he was appointed to the Hornington station, where the accident occurred.
