CLOUDY AND HUMID

The following is the official weather forecast:—

The depression which was approaching yesterday from the Tasman Sea is now beginning to cross the Dominion but has become shallow. It is being followed by several secondaries. Indications are for:—

Winds.—Northerlies or north-wester-lies predominating but backing at times to west or south-west in many places, force mainly light to fresh but occasionally becoming squally. Seas—New Zealand waters; Rather rough at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits, but otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman sea: Moderate to fresh north-west to westerly winds predominating; seas moderate.

Weather.—For the most part cloudy and humid with scattered rains, more especially In districts with westerly aspect; temperatures warm. >

WEATHER IN DUNEDIN

A heavy ground fog lay on the low levels of the city early on Saturday morning, and the day was calm, with bright sunshine. In the afternoon there was a breeze from the north-east, but the temperature reached a maximum of 75 degrees. The barometer fell to 29.93 inches. Varied conditions were experienced in Dunedin yesterday. The morning was overcast but mild, with occasional very light showers of rain. The sun broke through in the afternoon and the temperature rose to 72 degrees. About 5 o’clock, however, fairly heavy rain commenced to fall and showers continued throughout the evening. The barometer rose in the evening to 30.01 inches.
