(Per United Press Association)

Beverley retained their respective Singles titles, but all Doubles’ titles changed hands. In the men’s event D. C. Coombe and A. C. Stedman. New Zealand’s-Davis Cup representatives, defeated the title-holders, J. W.. Gunn and N. G. Sturt. The holders of the Women’s Doubles Championship, Misses N. and M. D. Brown, North Island champion, beat D. C.' Coombe (Wellington), the New Zealand champion, by 2—6, 6—4, 7—5. i Coombe was in winning vein for the first set but Brown proved too steady in the next two sets. Coombe fought back valiantly in the fourth set in which there was a marathon game for the tenth which, after a dozen duces, Coombe won to keep the match alive, five all. The Aucklander, however, continued to drive accurately and refused to be put off his game by his opponent’s tactics of rushing the net. All Coombe’s ingenuity was without avail, Brown annexing the eleventh and twelfth games for the set, and match.
