PAN-AMERICAN CLIPPER BRINGS SHIPMENT OF PHILCOS A striking illustration of the progressive policy pursued by the manufacturers of Philco Radio, the world’s largest selling radio, is seen in the fact that a shipment of the new 1938 models is due at Auckland next week on the first commercial flight of the American Clipper to New Zealand. This is the first time that radios have been shipped to this country by air, and it is only fitting that the distinction should have been achieved by the Philco, the pioneers of every worth while improvement in radio manufacture. The shipment is consigned to the sole New Zealand agents for Philco Radio, Messrs Chos. Begg and Co., Ltd., and it demonstrates the keen demand that exists for this popular radio the world over. Not satisfied with constructing the finest radio it is possible to produce, the manufacturers of Philco utilise the most, modern means of transport so that eager buyers should not be kept waiting too long for the latest models. In many respects New Zealand is an isolated country, but when buyers can purchase from Beggs models that have left the factory only a few days ago, distance is annihilated and they can obtain a new model almost as quickly as buyers living alongside the factory. It is very gratifying to be able to record the enterprise and thoroughness which both Beggs and the makers of Philco display in servicing radio buyers throughout New Zealand, and it explains in part why “ PHILCO ” is so popular in this country.—7l33.
