SUNDAY SERVICES

The Rev. D. C. Herron, M.A., will conduct both services in Knox Church to-morrow. His evening subject will be “ The Bethlehem Queue.’ At First Church to-morrow Christ mas services will be conducted by the Rev. W. Allen Stevely whose subjects will be, in the morning. “ Why Christmas? ” and in the evening, “ God So Loved.” At the evening service the choir, under the direction of Dr Galway, will give a selection from Handel’s “ Messiah.’ The soloists will be Miss Margaret Elder, Mrs C. M. Barnett and Mr Alfred Walmsley. At the Congregational Church, Moray Place, to-morrow, the Rev Albert Mead’s subject in the morning will be “ The Eternal in the Temporal,” and in the evening “ The Good Wish and the Good Will.” At the evening service the choir will sing the anthem “O Come AH Ye Faithful ” and Christmas carols. “A Merry Christmas ” will be the theme at Trinity Methodist Church to-morrow evening, the preacher being the Rev C. H. Olds. Missioner D I. Robertson will be the morning preacher Mr Olds will preach at Glenavon at 11 and Mr Robertson in the evening. This will be a Christmas carol service. Mr Cook will take the morning service at Woodhaugh. The Greater World Spiritual Mission will meet in Knowsley Chambers at 6.30 p.m. The speaker will be Mr McKay, of Christchurch, his subject being “Passing of Time.” Prayer circle will follow At the Theosophical Society there will be a series of convention addresses by leading lecturers. N. E. Ockenden, of Auckland, will be the first speaker and her subject will be “ New Light on the Problem of Heredity.” In St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church Christmas services with special Christmas music will be held, the preacher at both services being the Rev Thomas Miller. At the morning service his subject will be “The God of Peace.” and in the evening “Arms That Are Everlasting.” A collection will be taken for the relief of distress in China. Christmas services at the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church to-morrow will include special carols at the evening service. Miss Ivy Bain will sing “ O Thou That Tellest,” and Mr Rov Wentworth, “Nazareth.” The cantata “ Bethlehem ” will be sung in the afternoon. The Salvation Army services this Sunday will be conducted by Adjutant and Mrs Victor Dick. At 11 a.m. the subject will be “What Sayest Thou Of Thyself? at 3 p.m.. music and melody hour; at 7 p.m. “The Swiftness of God” and the anthem. “ What Wouldst Thou Have Me To Do? ” At 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. there will be young people’s meetings conducted by Y.P.S.M. Mrs Lemin. The services at the United Congregational Church, Albany street, will be conducted by the Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft. The morning address will be on “The Significance Of Holidays.” The evening service will take the form of a Christmas choral service and carols and solos will be sung by the choir. The subject at this service will be “Called Wonderful.” Christmas Sunday will be observed at the Hanover street Baptist Church to-morrow, when the Rev. J. Ewen Simpson will deliver Christ-

mas messages, and special Christmas music will be presented. Mr W, E. Reynolds will be the speaker at the Spiritualist Church, Radiant Hall, his subject being .“There Is a Divinity Which Shapes Our Ends,” after which a woman medium will demonstrate spiritual clairvoyance with personal messages. On Monday at 8 o’clock the Healing Centre will meet.
