ENJOYABLE RECITAL
MISS MURIEL EACAR'S PUPILS An extremely varied and attractive programme was presented to a large and appreciative audience in the Returned Soldiers' Club on Saturday night by the pupils of Miss Muriel Eagar. the recital comprising musical and dramatic work. The Waiali Ladies' Choir and the Children's Choir were heard in some excellent part singing. These well-balanced choirs, which presented separate and combined choruses, sang fluently, with excellent expression and nicely-shaded tone. In the pianoforte section of the evening's programme were numerous interesting and enjoyable solos and duets, the work varying from elementary to advanced grades. A great deal of the playing was of a high standard and some very promising performers came forward. The vocal solos and duets were also attractively presented and well received, and much-enjoyed recitations added to the variety of the programme. All the items showed every evidence of good tuition and careful preparation. During the evening Miss Eagar presented, with characteristic artistry, the " Waltz Song " from " Tom Jones," and in response to an encore she gave a pleasing rendering of Cyril Scott's "Lullaby." The performers were: Maureen Mills, Gloria Poots, Deserie Hilliker. Jean Hall, Lucy Delaney, Harlow Weir Valmai Gilmour, Donald McFarlane. Valerie Reid, Peggy Gaiger, Maureen Keenan, Lily Foote. Gordon Mazey, Nancy Gilmour, Joyce Cameron, Doris Anderson, Betty Perks, Mary Delaney. Dulcie Cockerill, Kathleen Wilkie and Misses Isabel Dakers. Vena Raines. Irene Badman, Irene Lyons, Noni Clarke and Mavis Hall. The assistant accompanist was Miss Olive Moreton.
