FLAX ON FIRE

LARGE AREA DESTROYED FLAMES TWENTY FEET HIGH (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. More than 500 acres of a 640-acre plantation of flax in the Mungaroa Valley, Hutt County, valued at hundreds of pounds, were destroyed in a spectacular fire which lit up the entire valley and at times there was a vast area of flame 20ft high. The flax is the property of the Wellington Flaxgrowers’ Corporation, Ltd.
