LEAVING BERLIN

AMERICAN AMBASSADOR RESIGNING IN JANUARY BERLIN, Dec. 8. (Received Dec. 8, at 10 p.m.) The American Ambassador, Mr Dodd, will resign on January 1. Mr Wilson, Ambassador to Switzerland, will succeed him. COMMENT ON RESIGNATION NEW YORK, Dec. H (Received Dec. 8, at 10 p.m.) The New Work Times Washington correspondent, commenting On Mr Dodd’s resignation, says: “It has been apparent for some time that he was uncomfortable in Berlin, due partly to divergences of view with Nazi politics. Coincidentally, there was manifest a coolness in the relations between the two countries. Not only had Mr Dodd taken occasion during* public addresses to praise democracy, but he strongly opposed American Embassy representation at Nuremburg.”
