DOMINION COUNCIL MEETING ENCOURAGING REPORTS i CONFIDENCE IN MR HAMILTON (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. At a Dominion council meeting of the New Zealand National Party today it was stated that reports from the divisions were most encouraging. Support was now forthcoming from all classes of the community as the effects of the rising cost of living were being felt in all quarters. The women’s section reported that all over New Zealand housewives were having difficulty in meeting the increased prices foi many necessaries. Many workers employed in industries were becoming increasingly apprehensive as to their position in industry. The reports showed that the Government’s legislation would almost inevitably result in many dismissals from local industries. The following resolution was carried by acclamation:—“The National Party congratulates Mr Adam Hamilton on his work as Leader of the Party, and assures him of the party’s loyalty and unswerving support.” Nominations of the. following selected candidates were endorsed by the Leader of the party and the Dominion Council:— Mr J. G, Cobbe, M.p., Manawatu electorate. Mr J. R. Kerr, LL.B., Nelson electorate.

Mr T. L. Macdonald, Mataura electorate. .
