EMBELM OF SUPREMACY

THE AWATEA’S RECORD STEEL GREYHOUND ON FOREMAST (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, Nov. 19. Made to the order of the Union Company for the purpose of signifying the position which the liner has won on the Tasman crossing, a great steel greyhound was to be seen mounted above the foremast truck of the Awatea when the ship arrived at Auckland from Sydney. It has been made of stainless steel with a mirror finish, and is sft 7in in length. The emblem was made at the Cockatoo Dockyard, Sydney, from a portrait of a greyhound so that the device would be a faithful representation in every way. It is shaped and figured on both sides, and is to remain mounted on the foremast for the remainder of the ship's career.
