YESTERDAY’S PROCEEDINGS LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. „ , , The Wanganui Harbour Board and District Empowering Bill was put through the committee stages, read a third time, and passed. The second reading of the New Plymouth Airport Bill was carried after Mr J. McLeod had explained that the measure was mainly a reenactment of the Act. The committee stages were also taken, and the Bill was passed. The Council rose at 2.50 p.m. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES (From Oub Parliamentary Reporter» WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. A creditable record of legislative achievement was established by the House of Representatives to-day. Four local Bills, including the Dunedin District Drainage and Sewerage Amendment Bill, were passed in the afternoon, and before the House rose for the tea adjournment the Companies (Special Liquidation) Extension Bill had also been passed. The greater part of the evening was spent in the committee discussion on the Physical Welfare and Recreation Bill, which was put through its remaining stages and passed, and not long before the rising of the House the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill, authorising the appointment of a new judge to be president of the second Arbitration Court, was introduced, accorded urgency, and passed. The House rose at 10.30 p.m.
