VISCOUNT HALIFAX

THE VISIT TO BERLIN SUBJECTS FOR DISCUSSION BRITISH FORECASTS DENIED (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph -Copyright) BERLIN, Nov. 15. (Received Nov. 15, at 10 p.m.) An official News Agency statement denying all the British forecasts; about the subjects foi discussion between Herr Hitler and Lord Halifax says: “ There will be no weakening of the Rome-Berlin axis or the anti-Comintern pact, while Germany has nothing to add to the colonial demands made through the Fuhrer.” The principal British press forecast which suggested that Herr Hitler was prepared not to press the colonial demands for 10 years in return for a free hand in Central Europe is denied. The News Agency adds:—“ If the visit occurs in such an atmosphere the question arises whether or not it would be better if it was postponed.” NO POSTPONEMENT ARRIVING TO-MORROW BERLIN, Nov. 15. (Received Nov. 15, at 10 p.m.) Apprehension that Lord Halifax’s visit might be postponed as the result of the German News Agency hint and Nazi anger concerning “ the irresponsible British press ” have been allayed after the official News Agency announcement that Lord Halifax will arrive in Berlin next Wednesday. The attacks against British and French commentators continue. The Volkischer Beobachter says: “The manoeuvres of Marxist troublemakers to prevent Lord Halifax’s visit have failed." Der Montag says: “ The reason for the postponement hint was the fact that the British and French newspapers have once again opened a campaign of vile fraud and infamous agitation against the Fuhrer’s policy. This well of poisoning is deliberately calculated to disturb German relations with Britain and others.”
