FLYING BACKWARDS
A GERMAN HELICOPTER SPECTATORS ASTONISHED BERLIN, Nov. 3. (Received Nov. 4, at 5.5 p.m.) A helicopter flown by Flight Captain Hanna Reitsch astonished the crowd at Tempelhof by flying backwards. It rose straight from the ground, hung poised in the air, reversed, and landed gracefully.
The machine is described as a cross between a windmill and a bicycle. The makers are planning others of the same class.
