After struggling in the sea for 32 hours, a Chinese was rescued by a Straits Settlement Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve patrol boat cruising in the Singapore Strait. The Chinese was swamped while sailing in a small canoe. With three other naval craft, the patrol boat was carrying out exercises not far from the Singapore Naval Base when th-= man was sighted.
