OFFICIAL FORECAST COOL AND CLOUDY The following is the official wc .'.her forecast: — The last and rather intense ono ot the recent series of secondary depressions is passing eastwards of the South Island, while an anti-cyclone still extends across the Tasman Sea. on to the Dominion. Indications are for:— Winds.—South-westerlj predominating, moderate to strong generally, and of gale force at times in exposed positions, but decreasing gradually. Seas. —New Zealand waters: Rather rough tc rough generally. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong southerly winds and rather rough seas, but wind* and seas shortly moderating. Weather.—Cool and rather cloudy, with scattered and mainly light showers, more especially in districts with a westerly aspect and in the. southern portion of the South Island. Conditions should, however, gradually improve in most parts. WEATHER IN DUNEDIN There was again a strong south-west wind yesterday which did not abata until the evening. The sun shone, though interrupted at frequent intervals by passing clouds and at one time during the afternoon there was a slight shower. The maximum temperature was 56 degrees, and the barometer rose to 30.17 inches.

Overcast conditions with a fresh south-west wind were experienced during the day. The maximum temperature was 64 degrees. The barometer fell slightly, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.00 inches.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 4. It was fine in the early morning but cloudy and threatening for most of the day with a cool and fresh southerly breeze. The minimum temperature last night was 50.2 deg. and the maximum to-day 59.2 degrees. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 4. A fresh south-westerly breeze' blew under a heavily-overcast sky throughout the day.
