THE MONTAGUE SHOW
A WELL-BALANCED PRODUCTION
•'This Year of Carnival," the second production of the Montague revue season, has proved even more popular than the previous offering, and was again presented to a large and appreciative audience in His Majestys Theatre last night. It provided bright entertainment, and apparently many ol the best items have been kept to the last. "This Year of Carnival exceeds in entertainment value anything previously produced in Dunedm in the way of revues. Apart from the show s other attractions, the striking frocking of the spectacular numbers is one of the features of the programme. The spirit of carnival is suggested from the outset, when a huge figure of fun winks an enormous eye at the gay chorus. „ _, Led by the ebullient George Doonan, who is ably assisted by Barbara Vernon, Jimmy Jewell, and Ben Warriss, the revue moves along at a whirlwind speed which is maintained until the final curtain. " Carnival of Chess and "Carnival of Spain" are outstanding as two of the most brilliant conceptions ever seen on the Dunedin stage. The clever dancing of the energetic Darmora Troupe is a notable feature of this production, the versatility, grace, and precision of these talented girls making a strong appeal. The orchestra which is undei the direction of Mr Cyril Connolly, contributes much to the success of the Montague Show. "This Year of Carnival " will have its final presentation to-night. „____________
