Warner, of Palmerston North, for some time in an endeavour to perfect a plan for operating the propeller of a small boat by pedals. Mr Warner built his craft, which is. nine feet six inches long, specially to apply his tests. Both in the boat and the mechanism considerable skill and ingenuity have been displayed, the pedals being arranged to swing to and fro in the forward section of the b oa t and work the gearing under the operator's seat, while the rudder is controlled from a steering wheel. The propeller was made by Mr Warner, and is of a variable pitch design which he has found very serviceable on other craft. The boat is being tried out on water at present.
