RELIEF FUND DEFRAUDED FINE OF £IOO IMPOSED (Per United Press Association) TIMARU, Nov. 4. In the Magistrate's Court to-day Martin Lopez, described as a labourer, was fined £IOO on four charges of obtaining employment benefits for himself by making false statements. He was given a month in which to pay. "If the charges had been laid under the Justices of the Peace Act, and tried as false pretences," said Mr H. Morgan, S.M., " I would, in an endeavour to check this crime, have imposed imprisonment.
