THE NAZI OUTLOOK
Addressing candidates for entry into the National Socialist " Citadels." the higher training establishments for the future Nazi Party leaders and administrators of Germany (reports the Manchester Guardian), Dr Ley, the head of the party's machinery, declared: The party's education is the most complete of its character that exists. What the Church has succeeded in doing in a thousand years we have done in a decade. We require three things of the candidates for the citadels: (1) They must be best soldiers—that is, comrades; (2) they must be fanatical priests; and (3) they must obey blindly. They must also obey when they are wronged; that is the greatest thing of all. The fanatical priest must be the best orator, for a speech that is merely listened to is of no value; a speech must be felt. Dr Ley added that he did not wish the candidates for the Nazi Citadels to become priests, however. To be a soldier, he said, was the best check to priestly pride. The citadels should be centres of a deep belief in God.
