CLAIM FOR DAMAGES

DEGREE PF NEGLIGENCE WIDOW AWARDED £1250 (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 28. Both the motorist and in a lesser degree the pedestrian who was knocked down- and killed on the Hutt road on the night of June 21 were held by the jury in the Supreme Court to have been negligent. The claim was one for £3OOO damages by Ada Payne, widow of Henry Payne, against Dunstan John Burney, owner of the car driven by Rex Brooke Taylor. The damages were assessed .at £1250 and the court adjourned to enable counsel for plaintiff to consider the verdict after both parties had moved for Judgment.
