LABOUR FACTIONS

THE POSITION IN AMERICA TERMS FOR RECONCILIATION WASHINGTON, Oct. 26. (Received Oct. 27, at 11 p.m.) At the conference between the C. 1.0. and the A.F.L. Mr Lewis' announced the C. 1.0. terms for reconciliation, as follows:—The organisation of mass production, marine public utilities, and basic fabricating industries on an industrial union basis. The C. 1.0., with all its present affiliates, shall join the A.F.L. as an independent department, retaining its present name. Observers assert that the terms, if accepted will result in an inevitable domination of the A.F.L. by Mr Lewis. The New York Times Washington correspondent says the American Federation of Labour did not issue a statement concerning the proposals, but adds: " They are entirely unaccentable." MR HARRY BRIDGES WASHINGTON, Oct. 26. (Received Oct. 27, at 11 p.m.) Miss Frances Perkins, Secretary for Labour, said: "The Immigration Bureau is making the most thorough investigation whether Mr Harry Bridges is legally in the United States or could be deported." Charges have been filed of having illegally entered the States.
