POSTMASTER ARRESTED
END OF LONG HUNT CHARGED WITH THEFT OF MONEY <Per United Press Association) WHANGAREI, Oct. 22. " I'm glad that's over. I am just about played out and have had no food for two days." This was the way a police officer was welcomed when, after a long hunt, he arrested Leonard Arthur Hetherington. aged 45, postmaster of Waihopo. The arrest was made by Constable Molloy at Awanui bridge on Thursday. Hetherington being charged with having, while a servant of the New Zealand Government, stolen £l7O. the property of the Postmastergeneral. The accused appeared before Mr W. Williams, J.P., in the Magistrate's Court at Kaitaia this morning and was remanded to appear at the Houhora Court,
