THE SEVEN BEST-DRESSED MEN IN THE WORLD
The habitual connoisseur of masculine fashion plates ' who periodically attempts to name the best-dressed man in Hollywood, London, Sydney, and on down the line, invariably leads with his chin. But when a man is asked to choose seven outstanding exponents of dress from a competitive field of many millions (says an exchange)—that's a job. The man who finally consented to risk the condemnation of all maledom at the request of the interviewer is none other than Francis Lederer. Lederer was selected as the victim mainly because he was known as the best-dressed man on the European screen before going to America, and. therefore, should know something about clothes. Secondly, his current role in Columbia's " It's All Yours," in which he is co-starred with Madeleine Carroll, involves close to 30 wardrobe changes. His attire must be completely modern and up to the minute in style for the film. Lederer selected his own clothes for the picture, and his judgment was so excellent that the wardrobe department allowed him to have full sway. Consequently a selection of the seven best-, dressed men in the world by Lederer seems timely. Admitting that people can sometimes make mistakes, Lederer ventured the following selections, carefully choosing his fashion models from all walks of life. Here they are: Adolphe Menjou, sole representative of the screen; Captain Anthony Eden, British Foreign Secretary; Jimmy Walker, cx-mayor of New York City;' F. D. Roosevelt, jun., son of America's President; Valentin Parera, husband of Grace Moore, Columbia's singing star; George Jean Nathan, famous dramatic critic; and Fred Perry, noted tennis champion.
