TROTTING NOTES

By Sentinel

Meeting's To-day Trotting meetings will be held at Greymouth and Auckland to-day. The Oamaru Meeting The Oamaru Club's Labour Day meeting always attracts widespread patronage, and with the good fields engaged on Monday the club should hang up another success. Elulg Crosby The American pacei Blng Crosby will be one of the attractions at the Oamaru meeting on Monday. He is a four-year-old. and gives every indication of reaching the best classes. Ira Capita] Condition Marsceres is reported to be in capital condition, and the Man o' War gelding will be in favour for the Redcastle Handicap at Oamaru on Monday. Sure to be Fancied Crocus gives every promise of racing well at the Auckland meeting, and will be among the well-backed runners. The Auckland Meeting Horses likely to be fancied at Auckland to-day are:—Waitemata Handicap—Querida, Waingake, Mute; Improvers' Handicap (first division), Adversity, Axminster; (second division), Guide Peter, Marble Boy; Parnell Handicap—Crocus, Ranfurly Lass, Charteris Bay; Jellicoe Handicap—Kewpie's Bond, Nervie's Last, Our M'Kinney; Mountain Trot Handicap—Audo Patch, Native Tree, Meadow King; Stewards' Handicap Our Peggy, Compass, Blandford; October Handicap—Grattain Girl, Hori Bingen, Tangaroa; Electric Handicap—King's Warrior, Lady Fame, Gold Dredge. Champion's Big Task Two years ago Indianapolies in the Weston Handicap at Oamaru conceded 60 yards to a good number of Cup horses and won in convincing style in 2min 36 3-ssec. a winning record for a mile and a-quarter. The big stallion has performed wonders since then and in his best form he might be capable of conceding an extra 24 yards to the select field now opposed to him. It is against him. however, that lie has not had a race for nearly 12 months, but a victory for Mr G. J. Barton'.; great pacer would be extremely popular. Not Yet Assessed The association's handicapping committee has not announced assessments for the Australian pacers Lawn Derby and Speedy Boy, who were nominated for the Auckland meeting. It may be that the connections of the horses did not supply all necessary information, as required by class 8 of the handicapping system, which demands all placed performances, mark from which horse started, size and state of track, and limit of the race.
