GREAT ADVANCES MADE DIET AND PREVENTION OF DISEASE (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 20. Dr Alan Tennent, of Wellington the medical officer to the New Zealand Coronation contingent who after the Coronation was engaged in professional work in London, returned today. He said great advances were being made in X-ray work, both from a diagnostic and therapeutic point of view and this applied too in the field of investigation of gastric disorders. Another matter to which great attention was being paid, Dr Tennent said, was the question of diet from the point of view of prevention of disease, particularly in relation to dental caries. Very extensive experimental work was being done in this direction at Honolulu, showing the value of tuber starches as preventive agents.
