SKI-ING AT RUAPEHU

AUSTRIAN EXPERT’S PRAISE DESCRIBED AS MARVELLOUS (Per United Press Association) CHATEAU TONGARIRO, Oct. 18. “The spring ski-ing at Ruapehu is marvellous. It compares very favourably with any country in the world,” said Mr Ernest Skardarasy, the noted Austrian ski expert, who is making a tour of inspection of the leading New Zealand ski resorts. Mr Skardarasy said the snow on Ruapehu was excellent, and there were slopes suitable for all classes of skiers, from the novice to the expert. He was particularly intrigued by the crater lake. Previous to this week he had never before skied on a volcano or in a crater.
