STILL RAINING AT CAULFIELD
(United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) MELBOURNE. Oct. 18. (Received Oct. 18, at 10 p.m.) This afternoon it was still raining at Caulfield and the Cup prospects were no brighter. Nearly four inches of rain has fallen since Friday. No decision will be made regarding the running of the race until to-morrrow.
The Ascot races, scheduled for tomorrow, have been postponed. Courtcraft and Homily are expected to reach Melbourne this afternoon. Pandava, Black Laughter and Allunga are also coming. Flood Tide galloped six furlongs in Imin 17sec at Mentone to-day. Manolive, with R. Wilson up. covered four in sHsec. The jockey J. Daniels has returned from Ceylon. Acceptors for the Werribee Cup, which will probably be run on Thursday, include Red Manfred 9.0, Highardo, Vaalmore, Conandale, Navarino. Namakia 8.8 is ,an acceptor for the Werribee Flying' Handicap and Gay Circle 9.0 for the Welter. Her owner Mr G. J. Barton, stated that Desert Chief was unlikely to run in the Cup if the track was heavy.
