BEER COMPETITION

DUNEDIN BREWERY’S SUCCESS LONDON JUDGES’ AWARD LONDON, Oct. 11. “ Beer is better than it has ever been,” was the conclusion of the judges at the bottled beer competitions in London in which Empire beers were entered for the first time. The Dunedin Brewery (New Zealand) won one of the two Empire contests. The judges praised the fine quality of the overseas brews, but declared that it was impossible to compare British and overseas beers, as the latter were mostly of the lager type. It was announced that Britain drinks 300,000,000 gallons of bottled beer a year, plus the quantity from the cask.
