TOWN HALL DANCE

A gay sight was witnessed at the popular dance at the Main Town Hall fast Saturday night, when some 600 couples danced to music supplied by Mr Jack M’Caw’s new Mayfair Swing Time Band, assisted by the radio vocalist Mr James MacFarlane. singing some of the latest dance hits. A feature of the programme was the introduction, of the tango and the rumba, which proved to be the most popular dances of the evening. Next Saturday night the tango and the rumba will again be featured. The first semi-final of the Otago Dancing Championship will be held and the winners selected by public vote. There will be a special mannequin parade by the Marigold Frock Salon, and a frock will be given to the woman filling in the neatest dress card.
