RUMOURS OF RESIGNATION

MEMBER FOR WAITEMATA A COMPLETE DENIAL (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Oct. 12. An absolute denial was given by Mr W. J. Lyon, Government member for Waitemata, to-day to suggestions' emanating from Auckland that he is likely to resign from the Government Party and also from Parliament. Mr Lyon said he had gone to Auckland for the week-end, aiid on all sides had encountered rumours of his impending resignation. Since his return he had found that those rumours had spread to Wellington. The position so far as he was concerned had its serious side, as it appeared that the rumours had been put in circulation by his political opponents. The electors of Waitemata had honoured him at the last general election by returning him to Parliament as a supporter of the Labour Government, and he would continue to serve both his constituents and the Government to the best of his ability.
