NAVAL RESERVE
GREAT VALUE OF TRAINING TRIBUTE TO EFFICIENCY (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 12. “ I think we had a very clear demonstration of the efficiency of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve the other day,” said Rear-admiral the Hon. E. R. Drummond, officer commanding the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, addressing the Auckland Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve after making the annual inspection to-night. “As you all know, we sailed the Diomede Cup race, and you also know the tragic finish of that race. Rearadmiral Drummond said. At tne same time, it might have been more disastrous, and that it was not so was very much due to the capable handling and the efficiency of the crew of the R.N.V.R. whaler. The crew was instrumental by the efficiency it showed in probably saving the lives of several men, and it brought great credit on the R.N.V.R. “ I congratulate them,” Rear-admiral Drummond added. “It just shows that this training is all to the good and their efficiency is proof of the work the R.N.VJI. is doing."
