LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE SOCIETY

MONTHLY SOCIAL The members of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Society held their monthly social on Saturday night. The president (Mr W. Longworth) extended a welcome to the members and friends, including an Australian visitor. He then gave a brief talk on the historical development of industry amongst the Lancashire and Yorkshire people, and on the history of transport Brief reference was also made to the great progress in other cities, especially in Liverpool, in regard to various systems of transport that had been introduced by the great men of Lancashire and Yorkshire.

The following provided the evening’s programme:—Song, Miss G. Walker, “ Thank Me Not ’’ and “Rosamo”; trio, Mr and Mrs M'Quarrie and Mr Watson, “ Eileen Alannah ” and “A Wee Cooper of Fife”; song, Mrs Vickers Walton. “ Mother Macree ” and “ To a Miniature”; duets, Messrs M’Quarrie and Watson, “Passing By,” “The Hero and the Villain” and “The Gendarmes.”
