COMMERCE FACULTY EX-STUDENTS

ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION There was a fair attendance of members at the annual meeting last night of the Otago University Commerce Faculty Ex-Students’ Association. Mr J. Spiro presided. At the conclusion of the annual meeting a series of impromptu debates was held. ANNUAL REPORT Moving, the adoption of the annual report, tne chairman remarked that, viewed from the most important aspects, that is, the promotion of the art of public speaking and discussion of matters of Interest to the profession, the year had been highly successful. However, as in past years, the attendances at meetings had left much to be desired, although a good average attendance had been maintained. “The association has a credit balance of £ll 17s Id in the bank. However, against this there is a contingent liability for £5, respresented by the association’s guarantee to bear half the loss up to £5 on the Silver Jubilee dinner. This will still leave a sufficient sum for commencing next year's activities,’’ Mr Spiro continued. “As this year marked the occasion of the silver jubilee of the commerce faculty, we 'were pleased to have been given the opportunity of co-operating with the present Students’ Association m the holding of a jubilee dinner, which was an outstanding success. There was a good attendance of ex-students, amongst those present being the dean, the lecturers, and the chancellor of the University. During the year, Mr R. T. Wright tendered his resignation as treasurer, owing to his being transferred to Wellington, and Mr D. Kelly was appointed to this position.” The report was adopted. OFFICE. BEARERS
