OTAGO A. AND P. SOCIETY’S ANNUAL STALLION PARADE
ntasro Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s annual Clydesdale stallion parade will be held at Tahuna Park on Thursday, and the catalogue Is one of the best that has been presented for this fixture for several years. The trophies illustrated above will be competed for by an array of 35 high-class stallions, which will comprise the best field paraded for a long time. Last year the total entries numbered 27, and in 1935 the catalogued total was 31, although all the entries were not forward. Competition will be very keen in all classes, and a glance at the catalogue is sufficient to indicate that some of the finest Clydesdale sires in Otago will be represented by their progeny. The entries this vear will include some outstanding imported horses, as well as stallions of local breeding, and the comparisons that may be made between these classes of stock should be very interesting to breeders in what is generally regarded as the home province of the Clydesdale horse in New Zealand. The Otago Horse Parade is the leading display of its kind in the Dominion, and even class honours, quite apart from the special trophies that are offered, are well worth the winning. Left: The Wright Stephenson Perpetual Challenge Cup, for stallions of four years and over. Right: The Donald Reid Memorial Perpetual Challenge Shield, for the champion stallion Of the parade, irrespective of age.
