.Sir.—Where are the people who safeguard our interests? Why allow members of the crews of Japanese steamers to come ashore and do as they please? I see that they ascend the masts of their steamers and take snapshots. Ypu know what happens to people who take cameras ashore in Japan. Why paint the oil tanks on the foreshore aluminium? They should be painted green as they are at Wellington.—l am, etc.. September 16. Wake Up
